By spirituality I mean an acknowledgement that there are things about life we do not understand and can’t find a rational explanation for. This may be a simple belief in serendipity or ‘gut’ feelings, or a profound faith in an Almighty God. Whatever it is, we know that our beliefs have a deep impact upon how we find meaning in our lives. It is for this reason that they are important in counselling.
I come from a Christian faith background which has been helpful to some of my clients who hold Christian beliefs. However many of my clients have had no specific faith. I mention it only because it’s helpful to some. My counselling is professional and respectful of my client’s beliefs whatever they are. I would never impose my beliefs on anyone.
