BSc (with Honours) in Integrative Counselling: This involved studying a wide range of theories and learning how to blend this knowledge into a functioning approach that fits with who I am.
Diploma in Counselling: This also covered a wide range of theories but also involved learning and practising creative interventions which are specific ways to help someone access unconscious information in a non-confrontational way.
Diploma in Sociology: This gave me a wider view of society and cultures seeing beyond the individual into their context.
As a professional I have to do a specified amount of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each year.
In and amongst all this learning I have had ‘normal’ jobs in customer-focused and management roles along with looking after my family. I enjoy working with people!
I am a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I work to their Code of Ethics which can be downloaded at http://www.ukcp.org.uk/resources-and-publications/standards/.
